Allan Michael Brunet

Director / Designer

Allan Michael Brunet is an award winning theatre creator with over 30 years’ experience. Graduating with honours from the University of Ottawa in acting and directing, Allan Michael became the premier lighting designer in the region’s French theatre scene and worked with some of Canada’s top directors. At the same time, he joined local street theatre troupe a Company of Fools, helping develop the highly energetic, physical and interactive style of performing Shakespeare which made them a local favourite, and remains their trademark to this day. After leaving Ottawa, Allan Michael became the lead puppeteer with Théâtre de la Dame de Coeur, translated several plays from French to English, toured the world as designer and puppeteer, and spent 3 years in New York, performing with Cirque du Soleil. Now based in Toronto, Allan Michael continues to design, perform and create theatre. He has been nominated five times for awards in design, winning twice, and three times for acting, winning once. Allan Michael is very excited to be back in the director's chair after being 20 years away. He could not have chosen a better group of people with whom to dive back in. I hope you enjoy watching them fly as much as I have.

Denise

It's great to be back in the theatre.  After a hiatus where I've been focused on writing, this project and group of people were an inspiring challenge that drew me back. Past favourite productions include Youtopia (and 2Youtopia, at Nuit Blanche), Turtleneck, Othello, Hamlet, Romeo & Juliette, and going waaaayyy back, Tony n' Tina's wedding. What these productions all have in common, is the space and willingness to push boundaries and discover the deeper limits of the work.  Also... I play a sex worker in a few of them. Go figure. It got to the point where I wrote a play, Peeler, for the Toronto Fringe (2009), to great success. It is now a screenplay on course to becoming a feature film. Other film work includes Gangland Undercover, Murdoch Mysteries and Private Eyes. I hope you laugh, gasp, and recognize yourself in this wonderful, crazy world of the disenfranchised and driven people who are willing to.... risk anything.

Joanne Latimer

Carol

Joanne is a Toronto-based actor, director, writer and founding member of NightShift Theatre.  For NightShift she has directed Problem Child and her self-penned Fringe show, SNAP!  As an actor, her television credits include Frankie Drake Mysteries and George F. Walker’s series Living in Your Car. Most recent theatre credits include last year’s immersive hit Fair Verona (Lost and Gone); Halfway There (Globus Theatre); Aunt Dan and Lemon (Shadowtime Productions); and Washed Up, her solo Fringe show. Going way back, she too performed in Second City Toronto's Tony n' Tina’s Wedding, as part of the original cast.  Like Carol, Joanne has learned the value of taking risks.  “It’s been my experience that life really only pays off when you bet to win!” Betting on a project like this one has won her the opportunity to work with this outstanding team of artists and, she hopes, to provide a wildly entertaining evening to those who have taken a chance on our show.

Off-Broadway: La Ronde, Diary Of A Scoundrel, The Maids. US Regional: The Night Of The Black Cat, Back Of The Throat, King Richard the Second, Metamorphoses, The Tempest, Trigger, Proof, Hamlet, Penelope. Canada: Much Ado About Nothing, The Secret Shakespeare Series, The Men In White. Film: Let’s Ruin It With Babies, How To Plan An Orgy In A Small Town, The Journey Is The Destination, The Kindness Of Strangers. Television: Deadliest Warrior, Nikita, Odd Squad, The Expanse, The Strain, The Indian Detective, Nurses.

Gugun Deep is exhilarated to finally tackle a work by George F. Walker; he wishes to thank his cast & crew, Bina & Bal, Sarah, Pedro and Ryan for all their insights and support.
